Founded in October 2000, UPGRADE is The European Journal for the Informatics Professional, a technical, independent, non-commercial, and freely distributed electronic publication, promoted by CEPIS (Council of European Professional Informatics Societies), an organization that unites 36 Informatics Professional Societies from 32 European countries and is the voice of above 400,000 ICT Professionals in our continent. UPGRADE appears bimonthly in English in this website (no printed edition is available) and its monographic section is also published In Spanish (full edition printed; summary, abstracts and some articles online) by Novática, UPGRADE partner in Spain. Informatik/Informatique, bimonthly journal of SVI/FSI (Swiss Federation of Professional Informatics Societies), was a founder of UPGRADE and published articles in English, German, or French, until ceasing publication in April 2002.In UPGRADE
outstanding
international specialists cover research and technical developments of
current or future interest that serve the IT professionals, in Europe
mainly
but also worldwide, in developing their technical expertise and
broadening
their professional knowledge.
Created in April 2004 and promoted by CEPIS (Council of European
Professional Informatics Societies), UPENET
(UPGRADE European NETwork) is
the network of publications, paper or electronic, from CEPIS member societies. Our contents and
our editorial policy stem from the principal
objective of UPGRADE: to
provide its readers with high quality contents, ranging from
practical
business experiences to academic research. Our aim is that
the papers
published in UPGRADE
combine
a high
technical standard with a good legibility and usefulness of the
information. To this end we have established a structure for our contents, organised in several sections, with a given set of procedures for each one:
All the papers in the Monograph may be ultimately revised by
the Editorial
Team of UPGRADE and the Editorial Boards of UPGRADE and Novática, who can read and comment on
them in order to ensure their relevance to our readers, which may lead
the author to rework the paper. Our English
Language Editors, IT professionals with
English as a first language, read and revise the papers, ensuring the
texts are clear and understandable. Before publishing, the papers can
be submitted to the authors for final
approval, giving them a chance for last-moment corrections and
amendments.
The Editorial Team takes care of the final edition of all the papers and pieces of information published in UPGRADE.
We will be glad to
receive
your comments, criticism, proposals, etc.
